Causes of MAGNESIUM deficiency?
Up to 80% of the population is magnesium deficient. Causes are: insufficient magnesium supply through nutrition, stress situations and taking antacids (PPI’s), as a result of which magnesium from food is absorbed more difficultly. Magnesium naturally occurs in chocolate, nuts, white beans, spinach, artichoke or tuna. The recommended daily intake of Mg is 300-400 mg for adults. Supply through the diet is estimated at 200-300 mg, so often insufficient.
Causes of VITAMIN D deficiency?
Only a small percentage of vitamin D is consumed via food (20 %), the rest is produced through exposure to sun beams (especially UVB radiation). Since our exposure to the sun is often insufficient, vitamin D shortage is very probable. A food supplement with vitamin D is thus recommended, especially after bariatric surgery. Vitamin D deficiencies are very common among people who have undergone bariatric surgery. That is because vitamin D is stored mainly in the fat mass, as a result of which these people run a great risk of having a vitamin D deficiency already before bariatric surgery.
Why Bariatric Advantage® MAGNESIUM & VITAMIN D?
Complete formula: one tablet contains 900 mg of magnesium glycerophosphate, a particular magnesium salt which is excellently tolerated by the stomach and the intestines, supplemented with cofactors such as active B-vitamins (vit. B6, B9 (folate, Metafolin®) and B12), taurine and vitamin D3. These cofactors work in synergy with magnesium. The advantage of active B-vitamins is that they are immediately available for effect in the body. Vitamin D ensures that magnesium is stored in the body longer and conversely magnesium activates vitamin D.
For whom?
Bariatric Advantage® MAGNESIUM & VITAMIN D is suited for everyone who has undergone bariatric surgery.
